next week i'm going to be starting more classes. i'm going to take ceramic sculpture (i plan to take the class only if i'm allowed to do as much slip-casting as i want to), and custom metal fabrication (welding). i hope to make some sweet shit to put in my design portfolio.

i've been camping a bunch the past week. i should get into writing on livejournal more. i really like my boyfriend.

so today i was made aware of the fact that i have been officially initiated into the moped gang "the creatures of the loin". that probably just sounds really dorky to all of you, but it's pretty cool i guess. now i can fill my life with ape logos.




in other news i have a boyfriend and late tonight we will have been together for a week. i've liked him since i first laid eyes on him 3 months ago. then i found out that i like everything about him. i can't remember liking somebody so much. his name is josh, he's 29 and he's from kalamazoo. i think that we'll be just about perfect together.

almost moved in. i think that we need to have a BBQ next week at the new house. if you live in this city you should probably come over.

next week is gonna be so so rad. new house, no school, no designing a book cover, no second job, tons of days off to paint my walls and move in and drink beers in my garden. and ride my neglected moped. and walks for spoooooooky!

tomorrow i am trying out for a job making cakes. yes... cakes. http://www.idreamofcake.com check it out... these cakes will blow your mind. if in time this job would pay well, i could probably make cakes for a while... it could be fun and pretty artistic. i hope to make frank lloyd wright building cakes and bloody brain cakes.

in other news i bought my friend's moped. at first it wasn't running, and i had to fart around with some wires and spark plugs and something called a carburetor and now it's running... slowly. apparently this very simple part where the spark plug is supposed to screw in is stripped, so it isn't fitting in properly and once i get this part replaced it will supposedly be the fastest moped in town (50mph). i was supposed to get the part today, but now i'm getting it tomorrow, and i can't fucking wait!!! ARGHGHGHHGH. in the meantime i am cleaning the hell out of it and removing all of the rust that has built up over the last few months of it not being ridden and being left outside. i guess i'm going to have to become very handy and learn about engines because puch mopeds have a tendency to break down, but i've learned a lot from the internet already. i'll post pictures and videos once i get it going in a day or two. !!!

i made a painting of our living room. hooray. more paintings to come over the next few months. jake and i are taking a painting class through san francisco city college. the class is super cheap (60 bucks), and we attend class in an old building with a view of boats and the golden gate bridge which is pretty fantastic i suppose, but what i really enjoy is stepping out into the hall and seeing a cargo ship moving across the window in the door at the end of the hall. i really love cargo containers stacked on ships, and plan to paint a giant painting of one at some point.

i am painfully bored because i stayed home from flash class to troubleshoot why i can't load this hacked version of CS3... its all there except for flash, which is the primary program i need, and each attempt to load it takes something like 2 hours, so i am on this other computer with no adobe programs whatsoever, and i have no canvases, no paints, and no desire to watch a movie. so far i have killed the time napping to bauhaus, and reading back a few pages on friends' livejournals, which is why i was inspired to update mine. alright, nothing is worse than somebody writing about their boredom. boredom is counter-revolutionary.

however, i can feel a breakthrough in my employment situation eminent. i interviewed for an internship that i really wanted, and then missed out on it for whatever reason (well i can think of a few reasons, but the primary one being that i was not informed that i was going in for an interview, but rather thinking that it was nearly a sealed deal). well at least i know what to expect when interviewing for an internship with a company selling highly conceptual and disturbingly overpriced THINGS. he asked me some questions that i need to be asking myself and finding the right words to answer. i need to know why i want to be a product designer, know what products i want to design, who i might like to design for, and why that is an important thing to do. i am just so disconnected from the design world right now, and if i could just get my foot in a door or somebodys ass i could really make (well hopefully important) beautiful, functional, and desirable things exist. but anyhow i really feel like something will happen soon that will at least give me something to put on my resume and maybe in my portfolio and then maybe from there i can move up or move around and then make some cash and then decide what it all means and how i can go to school again.

so i'm back in school taking a couple of classes... learning flash animation and painting. its the best idea ever because i don't have to worry about my loans while i'm in school.

i am really itching to start doing something creative for a living, so i'm working like mad on my website, and i'm trying to build a portfolio out of my not-too-impressive collection of shit i did in college. once again i realize that college was a waste of time and money, and this time i really wish that i had waited to go to school until i was mature enough to put more effort into each and every project. i almost wish i could do it all over again. so i am going to do some of it over again for myself, and for my portfolio... or at least make my designs and presentations a little better. architecture never was my thing, but i am pretty sure after all these years that i really want to pursue industrial design, and beginning with sketches and an entry level job in at least 2d design, i can begin to think about how to make it all happen. in the not too distant future i am also thinking about grad school, but i am not sure how that would be affordable unless i shipped off to sweden (seriously). i'm looking into it all, at least.

what is up dudes

i am in nice, france. today jake and i went swimming in the majestic waters of the meditteranean. we jumped off of some rocks until we noticed a sudden infestation of jellyfish. then we got nude and worked on our asstans. pretty fantastic times. the gelato here is amazing... jake has been eating it twice a day. the pizza is amazing too, and for dinner i ate some soupe de poisson which is fishy soup. and damn the croissants here are tasty as hell... they were all soggy in paris. MMMMMMM FOOOOOOD. the only bummer is that nice is infested with lobster red, leathery old people. and old people in general. with their broiled saggy tits and shriveled uncircumsized members all flopping around on the beach.

we saw a dude on the beach in barcelona stroking himself constantly. that was neat. barcelona wasnt as awesome as i expected it to be... nice architecture but the restaurants were so expensive, food portions were really small, and except for one meal in three days, the food was shitty. the awesome thing about barcelona was dinner is usually served between 10pm and 12 am which is about when i usually want to eat it.

so i am leaving in one week to make my way over to europe and i won't be back for over a month. (sweet). it's about time... i've been trying to get over there for over a year now. i'm travelling with jake aka my man, and here is the tentative schedule.

sept 1st- 3rd: go to pittsburg, PA and span time with jake's stepmom and younger half sister. jake's stepmom is getting us dirt cheap airfare because she's a flight attendant for US airways, so in exchange she gets our company for a few days. it is rumored that they live out in the boonies, and own horses, 4-wheelers, a swimming pool and hot tub, and an extensive collection of guns and taxidermied wildlife.

sept 4th- 7th: STOCKHOM, SWEDEN. marvel at swedish products. buy chocolate bars called "plopp". resist purchasing furniture and jeans. avoid H&M stores. resist men. stay with a very blonde, very tan swedish stranger from couchsurfing.com called 'hans'.

sept 7th- 8th: GOTEBORG, SWEDEN: do more swedish stuff with a female swedish friend of jake's who he went to school with... (just went to school with???).

sept 9th- 15th: BERLIN, FOOLS!!!: stay in noele's spare room. do tons of awesome shit...

sept 16th- 19th: AMSTERDAM: stay with a friendly stranger. look at good architecture. eat gouda cheese. rent a bike. look at art in a few museums. spend as little time as possible in the "red light district" and coffee shop district. i may also want to stop in ROTTERDAM where there is good architecture, one of my favorite firms, MVRDV is based out of there.

sept 20th- 22nd: PARIS: i feel like i may have had enough of paris from the two times i've been there, but jake wants to go. we'll probably stay with friendly strangers and be toured around. i'll try to visit lecorbusier buildings and figure out what the kool kids do in paris.

sept 23rd- 27th: BARCELONA: i have not made any plans for barcelona, and i'm not sure where we are staying yet. i would like to see some architecture, lay on the beach, eat things...

sept 28th- 30th: southern coast of france, NICE: stay with a dude we don't know named christophe, do whatever it is you do in the south of france (i have no idea). eat tasty-ass food. maybe i can find a farm where they make FOIE GRAS and see what all the controversy is about.

oct 1st- when we leave: ITALY, VENICE, maybe some other towns too: jake wants to ride in boats and eat italian food. sounds just fine with me.

WHEN I GET BACK: be totally bummed, move to a new apartment, find a new job, plan my next trip to europe.


if anybody knows anywhere that i should go in any of these cities, anybody i should meet, anywhere we can stay... pleeze let me know!!!

im happy as hell.
